FAQs

A Testament of Community Trust
What amenities do you envision for Phase One?

In Phase One, we’ve planned a fieldhouse with an elevated track and a full-size soccer or football turf field with bleacher seating. A great feature of this design is that it can be subdivided to accommodate multiple user-groups and activities at once. For example, (4) sub-fields each 30×70 yards, (2) softball fields, (2) 9v9 soccer fields, U12 baseball, lacrosse, and other sports can share the field. In addition, options exist for batting cages, sprint lanes, a jump pit, climbing walls, a multi-sport simulator for golf, archery, and more.

Where’s the pool, the pickleball courts, the traditional gym floor, the workout space, the coffee shop? Where are the outdoor fields and lights?

This is a phased approach to development. Phase One is designed to meet the needs of the greatest number of people, in the simplest way, for the least amount of money. As District funds grow, we can add additional facilities and fund other projects within the District boundaries.

Will my taxes go up?

No. This is a tourism and lodging tax on hotels, motels, and short-term vacation rentals within the District boundaries. This will not affect your property tax whatsoever.

How does your plan align with the City of McCall’s PROs Plan and/or the Valley Country Recreation Board's Strategic Plan?

We used both of these plans to better understand the need for this facility in our community. We will work with these teams to help their vision become a reality. They see the need but do not necessarily have the funding. We will provide the team and the business plan to find the private funding and establish an ongoing revenue stream moving forward.

Whom are your partners? Whom have you talked with?

We are in the early stages of sharing our vision and talking to partners. Community partnerships will be essential for this to be successful. We have met with leaders of the Valley County Recreation Board, McCall-Donnelly School District, City of McCall, City of Donnelly, St. Lukes, the Ponderosa Center, many private business owners, and others. We will continue to look for additional partnerships and are open to all conversations.

What would the facility be used for in the summer when everyone is outside?

Music, parties, senior programming, golf simulators, training, weddings, events, conventions, conferences, and more!

Not to mention, with our seemingly relentless fire season, this arena gives EVERYONE a safe, smoke-free space to stay active and healthy in the summer.

Who are "We"?

A team of local professionals, parents, and long-time community members who believe THE TIME IS NOW. We found a path to deliver, maintain, and grow this facility and additional projects moving forward. We’re organized and prepared to seek private money through both a non-profit and a PAC (Political Action Committee) to begin the process to form the District.

Our intention is a private/public partnership. Initially, we will fundraise privately for the land acquisition, studies, groundbreaking, and the formation of the District. Eventually, the District tourism tax will provide the ongoing revenue to support Phase One as well as additional phases in the future.
